Lawrence, KS – The Mid-America League is proud to announce that Juan Murillo of the Piney Woods TimberHogs has been voted the league’s “Player of the Year.”

Murillo said, regarding his selection, “I would like to thank God for giving me this award.  I am grateful to my coaches and teammates on my TimberHogs team.”

Murillo continued, “I dedicated a lot of time, discipline, and effort to all the games, and the results came out as expected.  Thank you to all who selected me as Player of the Year.”

Murillo, who also claimed league MVP honors, finished the season leading in most offensive categories.  He compiled a .484 batting average through 61 regular season games with a 1.477 OPS, 24 HR, 109 hits, and 100 RBI.  In the field, Murillo posted a .923 fielding percentage.

The 22-year-old outfielder spent 2 seasons as a member of the Padres of the Arizona Complex League (MLB) in 2022 and 2023.
