Abilene, TX-The Mid-America League Championship matchup was determined today following 2 exciting semi-final games played at Walt Driggers Field at McMurry University in Abilene, TX.

In the first game, the #3 seed Sherman Shadowcats built a 14-6 lead through the first 6 innings before the #2 seed Joplin Outlaws came roaring back. Joplin put up 9 runs in the seventh inning to take the lead 15-14. The Outlaws would add 3 more runs in the eighth to set the final at 18-14 and punch their ticket to Wednesday’s championship game.

In the nightcap, the #4 seeded Piney Woods TimberHogs jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the first. The top-seeded Abilene Flying Bison answered with a single run in the bottom of the inning. Piney Woods would add a run in the top of the fifth to go up 3-1 before Abilene exploded for 5 in the bottom of the inning to take a 6-3 lead. The Flying Bison outscored the ‘Hogs 6-1 the rest of the way to earn the 12-4 win and claim their spot in Wednesday’s championship game.

The inaugural Mid-America League championship game will pit the top-seeded Abilene Flying Bison against the #2 seeded Joplin Outlaws. The winner will be crowned the first Mid-America League Champion. Game time is set for 7:15pm at Walt Driggers Field at McMurry University in Abilene, TX.
