Lawrence, KS – Cameron “Cam” Vega of the Abilene Flying Bison has been named the Mid-America League “Manager of the Year” for the inaugural 2024 season.
Vega led the Flying Bison to a league best 46-22 record and an appearance in the MAL Championship game.
“I am honored to receive this award,” said Vega upon hearing the news of his selection. “I am proud of how our players performed all season, and that is accredited to the tremendous job that Mason (Ornelas), Chris (Johnson), and Logan (Vega) did throughout the summer.”
Vega went on to say, “I am very thankful to John Stark (Flying Bison General Manager) for giving me my first opportunity to lead, and (I am) very appreciative of the city of Abilene for their support all summer long.”
Vega, a former player and graduate of Texas Tech University, is an assistant coach at Cisco College.
